Daniel S. Turner, P.E., To Help Grow GS&P's Alabama Transportation Practice

Industry Veteran Will Assist In Developing New Business, Serving Clients

Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm for the built environment, has retained the services of Daniel S. Turner, P.E. to help lead new business development efforts in Alabama and to build on relationships with existing clients.

Dan has more than 38 years of professional experience in the transportation industry and has worked in teaching, research and service positions at the University of Alabama since 1981. Currently an Emeritus Professor, Dan has served various roles including Director of the University Transportation Center for Alabama, Director of University Homeland Security Institute for Alabama and Head of Civil & Environmental Engineering. Throughout his tenure he has completed more than 125 research and training projects for approximately $30 million. His research has supported the Alabama Department of Transportation, Transportation Research Board, Federal Highway Administration, Alabama cities and others.

Outside of the university, Dan has been professionally active in leadership roles with numerous local, state and federal organizations. He was the National President of the American Society of Civil Engineers and also served on the Board of Directors. He also served as a Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and a member of the Board of Governors for the American Association of Engineering Societies. Currently, Dan is a member of the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
