Summer is the perfect time to head outside with a good book or take a long walk listening to your favorite podcast. Continuously seeking new information and different viewpoints is important for growth. We asked a few GS&P employees to tell us what books or podcasts are on their lists this season—see what they had to say.

I like to listen to Harvard Business Review’s “Women at Work” podcast. The six-episodes series, which is hosted by editors Amy Bernstein, Sarah Green Carmichael and Nicole Torres, tackles some of the issues women face at work and offers advice from experts.

I’ve been reading The Maxwell Daily Reader by John C. Maxwell. The book includes 365 days of leadership development tips. Each morning before work I spend a few minutes reading the daily message and then try to focus on that day’s tip throughout my work day. It’s been a great way to make sure that my day starts off with a positive message and that I’m continuing to grow in my career.

I’m planning to read Measure What Matters by John Doerr, which profiles how the Gates Foundation and tech organizations like Google collect timely, relevant data to measure progress. It’s been sold out everywhere, so I’m looking forward to finally getting a hold of it!

This summer I’m going to read Managing Millennials: Discovering the Core Competencies for Managing Today’s Workforce by Chip Espinoza and Mick Ukleja. Millennials possess characteristics and motivations that differ from other generations in the workplace. The goal of the book is to understand how different management styles and competencies can bridge the gap and avoid tension between different demographics. By the end of the summer I hope to be equipped with the tools to better inspire our young professionals.
