As 2018 comes to a close, we asked some of our employees to share their favorite moments and memories from the past year. From weddings and birthdays to activities and trips, check out their highlight reels!

My 2018 highlight reel has kept me moving! Earlier in the year I ran my second half-marathon (my joy and excitement in the photo is quite misleading…). I have always been drawn to the outdoors and this year I had the opportunity to hike in some really beautiful areas, including Tennessee’s Mt. LeConte and North Carolina’s Grandfather Mountain. I also enjoyed some time down south and got to explore the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, Mexico. Of all the great memories and experiences 2018 has provided, my greatest highlight was marrying my best friend.

One of my biggest highlights from 2018 was hosting the IIDA Sustainability Leadership Breakfast during Nashville Design Week. It was my first time planning a big event and I learned so much through the process. Lisa Conway, the vice president of sustainability at Interface carpet was our keynote speaker and discussed where sustainability is now and where it is going. It was a great opportunity to join together with Nashville’s creative community and discuss what’s moving Nashville forward in terms of creative, sustainable design. We even gave people succulents as a gift for attending to serve as a visual reminder to “think green”.

2018 was memorable in many ways! I had a milestone birthday this year, turning the big 4-0, and my coworkers helped me celebrate with cake and ice cream. I also attended some amazing concerts, including The Killers, Elton John and The National.

2018 has been a great year! Work was full of excitement: I helped pull off Gresham Smith trivia, our own version of the popular HQ Trivia game, I celebrated two years with the firm and I got to be part of the team that launched our new brand. Outside of work, my biggest highlight, hands-down, was my trip to Kenya. I was there for 19 days and spent the majority of my time in the rural village of Tawa. From playing with primary school students and visiting the homes of villagers to sipping their spicy chai during daily tea time, it was a life changing experience and I’m counting down until I can go back.
