Current Title: Senior Architect
Office Location: Nashville
Years at GS&P: 11

In honor of National Architecture Week, we want to introduce you to an awesome architect! Meet Jennifer Carr, a senior architect in our Industrial market. Keep reading to learn how this mom of two is impacting communities through design and dancing along the way!

Where did you grow up?
Apalachicola, Florida

Where did you go to school?
I received a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University.

What made you choose your profession?
I was at science camp (yes, I was that kid!) and there was a presentation on bridges. I fell in love with the mix of form and function. After some research and talking with an architect from my home town, I knew that I wanted to be a part of the design community and have an impact on our built environment.

What drew you to GS&P?
I was really drawn to GS&P because I wanted to be involved with a company that not only had countless resources, but also had mentorship opportunities and opportunities for advancement.

What is your favorite GS&P memory?
One year as part of our annual firmwide Celebration events, our offices and departments were pitted against each other in a lip-syncing video contest. I was working in our Birmingham office at the time and we had such a great time putting that video music collage together!

What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on while at GS&P and why?
This is a tough question! I’ve been fortunate to work on so many great projects while at GS&P. I have to give props to our ongoing work with Blue Bell Creameries—we have a great project team and the client is amazing to work with. I’ve recently really enjoyed working with Mettler Toledo on a project that was a mix of office and industrial space. Working with a team from different markets and multiple office locations was fun and very rewarding.

What achievement are you most proud of?
Raising two wonderful, independent, creative, smart kids!

What would people be surprised to know about you?
I love to dance! It’s a generational thing—my momma still dances at 70 years old. I go to dance fitness classes and now my 16-year-old daughter dances.

If you weren’t an architect what would you be doing?
I would own a dance studio with a fashion retail component and a place to get your hair done—all in one!

What music is playing in your car right now?
Beyoncé
