Halloween is just around the corner! We asked Gresham Smith employees to tell us about their favorite costume over the years. From superheroes to movie characters, keep reading to see what they had to say.

This year my husband and I were Valkyrie and the Grandmaster from Thor: Ragnarok, our favorite movie from this past year. These may be our best yet!

Virginia Tech is notorious for giving out parking tickets and by my second year of school I had compiled a total of five. My roommate at the time was a senior and she had collected 14 total tickets.  For my Halloween costume that year I dressed up as a traffic cone and glued all of our combined parking tickets to my costume. I was one giant parking violation! Throughout the night I had at least 30 students tell me how much they related to my costume.

Halloween 2014 definitely stands out for me. Our two girls were teenagers and my husband Jack, a senior vice president in our Nashville Corporate + Urban Design studio, gathered a crew to “haunt” our cul-de-sac. My cousin “ran over” a trick-or-treater and Jack, dressed up as a clown, ran over to save her. Someone even dialed 911 and the police, a fire truck and an ambulance arrived. All of this happened while I was inside in my Alfred Hitchcock-inspired costume innocently shooing birds and serving chili. (No trick-or-treaters were actually harmed in the making of this memory!)

During Halloween in 2006, my college basketball teammate and I dressed up as Superman and attended the IMAX showing of “Superman Returns” at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. While it was slightly embarrassing, we had several kids ask to take pictures with us, so it was worth it!
