GS&P’s Grant Clifford and Brian McKeehan to Discuss TPA SkyConnect Success
Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Senior Vice President Grant Clifford, RIBA, LEED AP, and Senior Civil Engineer Brian McKeehan, P.E., F.ASCE, will participate in a panel discussion at the American Society of Civil Engineer’s (ASCE) Transportation and Development Institute’s International Conference on Automated People Movers and Automated Transit Systems on April 30 in Tampa, Fla. The panel discussion, entitled “Subgrade to Guideway: Infrastructure for the Tampa International Airport SkyConnect,” will focus on design processes for the GS&P-designed SkyConnect automated people mover system at Tampa International Airport. Additionally, as a member of the conference steering committee, McKeehan will moderate the general plenary session, as well as a panel discussion entitled “Airport Automated People Movers”.

Gresham, Smith and Partners announces that Catherine C. Morrison, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, an architect in the firm’s Healthcare studio in Charlotte, has been recommended to and appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to serve on the North Carolina Board of Architecture.

GS&P’s George Dick Named Young Professional of the Year by FWEA
Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that George Dick, a water resources engineer in the firm’s Water + Environment market, was named the 2018 Young Professional of the Year by the Florida Water Environment Association (FWEA). The award is presented annually to a member of the organization, age 35 or younger, who has greatly supported the organization’s mission of promoting clean and sustainable water environments. Dick was honored at the Florida Water Resources Conference on April 17.

GS&P Expands Safety-Focused Engineering Portfolio with New Contracts in FDOT Districts 2, 3 and 5
Gresham, Smith and Partners announces the firm has been selected as a sub-consultant on six new engineering projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)’s Districts 2, 3 and 5. The projects stretch from Escambia, Florida’s westernmost counties, to Osceola and Brevard Counties south of Orlando, expanding the firm’s geographic reach through most of the state. The new contracts are focused on improving safety and traffic flow along numerous roadways through a variety of lighting and traffic-signal improvements as well as Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSM&O) studies.

GS&P Selected to Design Trail and Wildlife Crossing on Florida’s East Coast
Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce the firm’s recent contract with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to provide design and engineering services for a new pedestrian trail and wildlife crossing at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Florida’s Martin County. The trail and bridge, which will span the Florida East Coast Railway, will connect to the park’s existing trail along U.S. 1, providing a safe crossing point for the park’s visitors and wildlife. The project is part of a statewide effort to increase public trails and green spaces.

GS&P’s Jody Barksdale and Hal Humphrey to Present at Florida Water Resources Conference
Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Jody Barksdale, P.E., ENV SP, a senior vice president in the firm’s Water + Environment market, and Hal Humphrey, P.E., a senior engineer in the firm’s Water + Environment Market, will participate in panel discussions at the Florida Water Resources Conference (FWRC). In a technical workshop and presentation, Barksdale will discuss the latest advancements in biosolids energy recovery, focusing on considerations to promote resiliency and sustainability. In a workshop hosted by the Florida Water Environment Association’s Collection Systems Committee, Humphrey will discuss best practices for sanitary sewer overflow abatement. The conference will be held April 15-18 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
