Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Sam Mehta, P.E., senior vice president in the firm’s Water + Environment market will participate in a panel discussion at the Smart Cities Connect Conference on March 28 in Kansas City, Mo. He will join fellow panelists Dan Kirby, principal at Jacobs Engineering, Erik Caldwell, economic development director for the City of San Diego, and Chris Castro, director of sustainability for the city of Orlando, Fla., as well as moderator Alexa Stone, LEED AP O+M, ENV SP, president of ecoPreserve, to discuss how cities can utilize Smart Cities data to drive sustainability and resiliency goals.

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Director of Environmental Graphics Jim Harding, SEGD, will present at Passenger Terminal Conference on March 21 in Stockholm. Harding’s presentation will focus on research-based best practices and strategies for improving the airport wayfinding experience for all passengers, sharing findings from GS&P-led research documented in Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Report 52: Wayfinding and Signage Guidelines for Airport Terminals and Landsides, ACRP Report 161: Guidelines for Improving Airport Service for International Customers and ACRP Report 177: Enhancing Wayfinding for Aging Travelers and Persons with Disabilities.

New Asheville Airport Parking Garage Enhances Sense of Place and Passenger Experience

Gresham, Smith and Partners announces the completion of a new 5-story parking garage at Asheville Regional Airport (AVL). The new structure, designed by the firm, supports the significant growth of the airport with the addition of more than 1,300 parking spaces, and provides dedicated space to relocate rental cars within the parking structure.

Gresham Smith Honored with Firm of the Year, Honor and Merit Awards from KYASLA

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive year the firm received awards from the Kentucky Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (KYASLA). GS&P was recognized as the Firm of the Year, honoring the firm’s commitment to landscape architecture and service to the community. Additionally, the GS&P-designed Lexington Multi-Family Stormwater Retrofit Manual took home an Honor Award of Excellence, the highest recognition possible, while the firm’s design for Beechwood Park was honored with a Merit Award of Achievement for Communication. GS&P staff accepted the awards at a March 2 ceremony held during KYASLA’s Annual Conference in Covington, Ky.

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Ryan Rohe, AIA, LEED AP, an architect in the firm’s Nashville Corporate + Urban Design studio, was named the 2018 Developing Leader of the Year by NAIOP – The Commercial Real Estate Association’s Nashville chapter. The award is presented annually to a member of the NAIOP Nashville chapter, aged 35 or younger, who has made significant contributions to the commercial real estate industry and their community during the early years of their career.

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Mike Sewell, P.E., senior transportation engineer and active transportation service line leader, has been elected to the League of American Bicyclists’ National Board of Directors. He was inducted at the 2018 National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. on March 11. In his leadership role, Sewell will support the organization as it advocates for safer infrastructure that supports all modes of transportation.

The ways engineering professionals can support clients with Progressive Design-Build delivery solutions was the focus of a recent article for Water & Wastes Digest co-authored by GS&P Senior Vice President Randy Booker, Ph.D., P.E., Gene Jackson, P.E., capital projects officer for Spartanburg Water, Timothy Masterson, P.E., managing engineer for Brown and Caldwell, and Richard Moore, director of construction for Haskell. The article features a case study on an expansion at Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District’s (SSSD) Lower North Tyger River Reclaimed Water Treatment Facility, highlighting GS&P’s role as the owner’s agent throughout the Progressive Design-Build process.

Gresham Smith Celebrates Golden Anniversary by Donating $50,000 to Nonprofits

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that the firm marked its 50th anniversary, in part, by donating $50,000 to employee-chosen non-profit organizations. Fourteen nonprofits received donations as a result of the GS&P Golden Anniversary Giveback contest, while the remaining five organizations were selected by the Gresham, Smith and Partners’ Individual Volunteer Empowerment (GIVE) Committee, which supports the philanthropic endeavors of GS&P employees.
