Kirby will partner with the firm’s clients to deliver strategic, technology-driven water and wastewater solutions that keep communities healthy and resilient.

“Andrew brings a unique perspective and passion for problem solving that allow him to address client needs holistically. His experience, combined with proven leadership skills and a dedication to mentoring younger staff, makes him a tremendous asset to our team,” said Hal Humphrey, P.E., Senior Civil Engineer at Gresham Smith. “I look forward to the ways Andrew will support our work renewing Alabama’s aging water and wastewater infrastructure and meeting the area’s growth and capacity needs, and I am proud to welcome him to Gresham Smith.”

“Having designed wastewater infrastructure and conducted forensic engineering to pinpoint problems, I understand the impacts that our projects can have on a community. I’m excited to join Gresham Smith and look forward to using my experience to design and build solutions that will address our clients’ unique challenges while improving efficiency, reliability and resiliency,” said Kirby.

Throughout his career, Kirby has worked on a variety of water and wastewater projects, including pump stations, force mains, gravity sewers, elevated storage tanks and treatment plants. Prior to joining Gresham Smith, he conducted hydraulic analysis of sewer flow data for a variety of clients, helping pinpoint issues within gravity sewer collection systems and provide recommendations to improve collection systems.

Kirby is a graduate of Auburn University where he earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is an active member of the Alabama Water Environment Association, a state-wide affiliate organization of the Water Environment Federation. When he’s not working, Kirby enjoys spending time with his young daughter, playing a variety of musical instruments, and fishing.
