Gresham, Smith and Partners is a proud founding sponsor of the Kentucky/Tennessee Water Professionals Leadership Academy driving continued leadership and advancement in water, wastewater and stormwater. The inaugural class includes GS&P’s water resources engineer, Seth Dobyns, P.E. and is further supported by the involvement of Katie Nolan, P.E., senior water resources engineer and John Reidy, P.E., division vice president as members of the steering committee and faculty. Katie also serves as an Academy co-chair.

The KY/TN Water Professionals Leadership Academy will identify and develop the next generation of leaders in the water industry through training sessions and team building activities that incorporate personal and professional development. Six sessions will focus on leadership skills, industry perspectives and trends. An additional session, which will serve as graduation, will be held at the annual Kentucky/Tennessee Water Professionals Conference.

Dobyns was selected to the Academy due to his experience, leadership aptitude and industry involvement. He currently serves as Fundraising Chair for KY/TN Young Professionals Committee and is involved with United Way Young Leaders, Second Harvest Food Bank and is the TSPE Inductee Celebration Chair.

“We’re proud to be a driving force behind this program and to have Seth represent GS&P as part of the inaugural class. We look forward to growing the future leaders of the Kentucky and Tennessee water industry,” said John Reidy, P.E., division vice president at Gresham, Smith and Partners. “This initiative helps train and encourage a new generation of leaders not only for the professional society but for their home organizations and will support the sustainability and continuity of both groups.”

The Kentucky/Tennessee Water Professionals Leadership Academy is a joint venture between the Kentucky-Tennessee Water Environment Association (KY-TN WEA) and the Kentucky/Tennessee section of the American Water Works Association (KY/TN AWWA). The Academy will bring together utilities, consultants, regulators, manufacturers and contractors to share perspectives and advance collaboration between stakeholders. As members of the steering committee, Reidy and Nolan are responsible for planning and executing programming. Reidy will be a co-leader of the second session on leadership styles. Nolan will teach the sixth session on industry perspectives and trends.
