Greg Kern Named Gresham Smith’s Active Transportation Practice Leader
Gresham Smith is excited to announce that Greg Kern, MBA, AICP, has been named the Active Transportation Practice Leader within the Transportation market. In his new role, Greg will oversee all of the market’s active transportation projects and pursuits across the country.
With three decades of experience in managing active transportation planning, PD&E, traffic analysis and public involvement, Greg will focus on developing innovative transportation strategies and concepts for communities and regional connectivity. Throughout his career, Greg has served in a lead role on hundreds of projects and developed a passion for planning active transportation concepts. Working in both private sector and governmental agency projects across the country, he has an extensive background in PD&E/NEPA analyses, preliminary roadway concepts, transit planning, public outreach and interagency coordination, trails and pedestrian access, port freight planning and traffic impact studies.
“Greg is the perfect candidate to build on the growth we have seen in our Active Transportation practice,” said Kent Black, P.E., Executive Vice President of Transportation. “He takes a holistic approach to multimodal transportation planning, including increasing access to transit, and he brings extensive experience across different types of active transportation facilities from greenways to trails and shared-use paths.”
As Active Transportation Practice Leader, Greg will oversee the market’s portfolio of projects such as Town Branch Commons, which is expected to open later this year, the Chattahoochee RiverLands Pilot Project outside Atlanta, the University of Kentucky Bike Plan as well as new trail improvements along Florida State Route A1A.
