Gresham Smith Adds Senior Transportation Engineer to Kentucky Practice

Gresham Smith is excited to announce that the firm has hired Arlen Sandlin, P.E., to serve as a senior project manager on the transportation roadway team based in Lexington, Kentucky.

Sandlin joins the firm with nearly 25 years of experience in transportation engineering. In his career, he has worked in every Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) district on highway projects ranging from small urban developments to major arterials, interstate highways and complex interchanges.

Well-versed in all aspects of transportation planning and roadway design, he has a focus on minimizing and/or mitigating human and environmental impacts that a project may include. He has experience with every phase of the highway design process, including preliminary planning studies, alignment studies, public involvement, field survey oversight, drainage design, geometric design, structure layout, maintenance of traffic, right-of-way plan development, utility avoidance and relocation design, and final plan development.

A Hazard, Kentucky native, he is a lifelong Kentuckian and received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master of business administration from the University of Kentucky.
