Gresham Smith has been awarded a contract by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for access management, safety studies and design throughout FDOT’s District 7, which covers primarily the Tampa Bay area.

The five-year, $5 million contract calls for Gresham Smith to analyze traffic operations and impacts involving crashes, vehicles, pedestrians, speed and transit among corridors, medians, intersections, and mid-block crossings. Data collection and qualitative assessments from the studies will guide the future development and implementation of traffic solutions and roadway design services.

“Having worked on over 10 corridors under our previous contract, we have extensive experience in District 7 doing access management safety studies and design,” said Tyler Strickland, P.E., J.D., RSP1, Florida state transportation leader. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with FDOT on these important studies to enhance the safety and mobility of the community’s future roadway projects.”

Under the previous contract, the project team has provided services for 22 task orders. Task orders included on-site support and permit review, access management briefings, evaluating over 80 unsignalized intersections, trip generation studies, corridor studies, pedestrian studies and public involvement support.
