Gresham Smith-Designed Outpatient Facility Opening in South Florida
Gresham Smith is proud to announce the newest Baptist Health South Florida facility is opening to the public in January 2021. Located in Plantation, FL, this wellness and medical complex not only increases access to quality care for Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade County residents, it also builds upon Baptist Health’s existing presence in the tri-county area.
The 112,000-square-foot facility includes an ambulatory surgical center with five operating rooms and will also feature services from the health system’s four centers of excellence providing cutting-edge cancer, orthopedic, cardiology, and spine care. The facility also provides outpatient services including urgent care, diagnostic imaging, radiation oncology, physical therapy, medical oncology, primary care, and more.
“This is a very important project for Baptist Health,” said Luis Cano, AIA, Principal at Gresham Smith. “This facility will be their premier location in Broward County. We designed this building to be prominent and recognizable. Our goal was to make the building architecturally functional and aesthetically pleasing.”
Maintaining a consistent modern look and feel as Baptist Health’s other recently completed facilities, the Plantation wellness and medical complex features tilt up walls, metal panels and curtain wall glazing on the exterior. The design concept inside is clean and modern, with a comprehensive wayfinding system that makes it easy and enjoyable for patients to navigate the building.

In addition to the Baptist Health Plantation facility, Gresham Smith has designed Baptist Health’s Emergency Center at Coral Way and Emergency Center at Country Walk. The firm is also designing a neighborhood hospital in Doral, which is slated to open in 2021.
