Gresham Smith Development Expertise on Display During ULI Spring Meeting

Gresham Smith announces that members of the firm’s Corporate + Urban Design studio will participate in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Spring Conference, which is being held April 15-18 in Nashville. Executive Vice President Steve Johnson, AIA, Director of Architectural Design Jeff Kuhnhenn, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Architects Joe Bucher, AIA, and Patrick Gilbert, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Vice President Jack Weber, IIDA, MCR, LEED AP, and Hospitality Design Leader Valli Wiggins, RID, LEED AP ID+C, will give presentations and lead tours related to the transformative development happening throughout Nashville, highlighting how the built environment—and Gresham Smith-designed projects—are shaping the city’s future. Additionally, Architect Mary Melissa Taddeo, AIA, will lead Rebuilding Together Nashville’s Volunteer Day and Joe Bucher will speak at a number of ULI Council events.

Tuesday, April 16

From Farm to Table to Building Healthy Developments across the Region

Tours led by Steve Johnson and Jeff Kuhnhenn

Although Nashville is renowned as a music mecca and tourist destination, the city’s largest industry is health care. Nashville is home to more than 300 health care companies contributing tens of billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs to the economy.

Likewise, Nashville continues to expand ways for people to live healthier lives. In addition to other healthy places across the region, this tour will showcase the Gresham Smith-designed Vanderbilt Medical Center at 100 Oaks Mall, a dead mall remade as a mixed-use project, and Lentz Public Health Center.

 

The Art of the Big Deal

From the Great Recession to today’s dizzying Crane Watch, this tour will take an in-depth look at some of Nashville’s most complex office developments, focusing on what it took to get each of these pivotal urban projects realized in downtown Nashville. Jeff Kuhnhenn will discuss the Gresham Smith-designed anchor tower in the Capitol View development and Joe Bucher will speak during a tour of Fifth + Broadway.

 

Acres and Acres of Downtown Developments: Big Changes Ahead in Nashville’s CBD

Mixed uses, urban green space, high-tech tenants and important entertainment venues are just some of the features that make up Nashville’s multi-acre projects, adding millions of square feet of new development in the city’s core. This tour will provide an insider’s look at the big changes underway in Nashville. Gresham Smith’s Joe Bucher will lead participants on tours of 222 Second Avenue South, Fifth + Broadway, Nashville Yards, Capitol View and Highwoods Gulch Holdings.

Sleep Chic: Nashville’s Boutique Hotel boom

Nashville’s regular presence on various “top city” lists translates into ever-increasing tourism. A recent wave of luxury-brand hotel properties is only surpassed by a surge in development of chic, luxurious, and interesting boutique hotels. From a hotel with a curated art museum to one with a 1956 Scenicruiser bus in the rooftop lounge, Patrick Gilbert and Valli Wiggins will help showcase a handful of these compelling properties.
