Gresham Smith has been named one of Louisville Business First’s 2021 Best Places to Work. Honored in the “small” category, this marks the second year in a row the firm has earned this distinguished honor. Recognizing companies whose operations are changing the Louisville business landscape for the better, the award is based on feedback from local employees when surveyed about the firm’s workplace policies and culture, office conditions, management styles, and more.

“We’re honored to be recognized once again as one of Louisville’s Best Places to Work,” said Mike Sewell, P.E., L.C.I., Gresham Smith Louisville Office Leader. “As we’ve worked from home the past year, we’re proud of the culture we’ve continued to uphold. Not only is our Louisville office full of strategic problem solvers and planners, it’s also comprised of people that are invested in the Louisville community. Our firm is only as successful as our people, which is why we’re committed to harboring an inclusive work environment where our employees feel empowered and fulfilled, both personally and professionally.”

Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Gresham Smith has had a presence in Louisville since 1995. Locally, the team specializes in providing engineering, landscape architecture and planning services for the firm’s Land Planning and Transportation clients. Recent local projects include installing Kentucky’s first mini-roundabout, implementing safety improvements along the US-60 corridor in Jefferson County, developing master plans for Louisville’s Eastern Parkway corridor and the Broadway All the Way project, as well as creating a comprehensive bicycle master plan for the University of Kentucky. Other local project highlights include the Mercedes-Benz dealership, as well as improvements to various Olmstead Parks throughout the area.

The firm is active in a number of civic and community groups, proudly supporting numerous organizations including Louisville Metro United Way, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and the Olmsted Parks Conservancy. The office also regularly participates in the city’s PARK(ing) Day, helping reimagine parking spots as usable public space.

This award is the latest addition to the firm’s growing list of workplace accolades. The firm has also been recognized this year as a top place to work by the Nashville Business Journal, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Tampa Bay Business Journal.
