September 19, 2018

Gresham Smith is proud to announce the firm has been selected as a subconsultant for on-call complete streets improvements in the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) District 1. The firm is initially focused on improving safety and enhancing mobility along State Route 80 in southwest Florida’s Hendry County.

“We have enjoyed working with FDOT and aiding in improving mobility throughout north and central Florida and look forward to continuing our efforts in a different part of the state,” commented Jay Bockisch, P.E., PTOE, senior transportation engineer, Gresham Smith. “By making State Route 80 a safe, convenient corridor for all modes of transportation, we have a great opportunity to improve quality of life for Hendry County residents.”

The Gresham Smith project team will review the corridor’s existing features, layout and land use, as well as transit information and crash data, before developing three alternative roadway plans that utilize FDOT’s Complete Street guidelines. The team will also participate in public meetings and outreach events to engage the community in the improvement project.

Gresham Smith is currently under contract in almost every FDOT district. The firm’s transportation team is working on a resurfacing and pedestrian safety project in District 2, capacity, lighting and traffic operations upgrades in District 3, a transportation systems management and operations study in District 5, an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design in District 6 and a districtwide access management and safety studies contract in District 7.
