Gresham Smith is excited to announce that the firm has been selected to design a 19,000-square-foot expansion to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility at HCA Healthcare’s Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado. The project will transform part of an existing medical office building on the Sky Ridge Campus and will include 20 patient rooms, a day room and a therapy gym.

Gresham Smith is providing architecture, interior design and experiential design and wayfinding services for the project, which will meet the capacity needs of the growing community. To create a cohesive space, the expansion will feature design elements seen throughout the rest of the Sky Ridge facility, such as expansive windows, stone and warm tones of brown and cream that reflect Colorado’s local landscape. Accent walls will add visual interest and aid in wayfinding.

“To successfully design for inpatient rehabilitation facilities, we must consider all aspects of the healing journey,” said Senior Healthcare Architect Nilanjana Snyder, AIA, LEED AP. “As acute care continues to advance, Gresham Smith intends to lead the way in enhancing the patient experience. Through our long-standing, successful partnership with HCA, we will once again bring additional resources that support thriving communities.”

This project is a continuation of Gresham Smith’s work at Sky Ridge Medical Center. The firm previously completed a 12,600-square-foot expansion and a 49,300-square-foot renovation of the operating rooms, laboratory and cancer surveillance system.
