Gresham Smith to Develop Master Plan for Multiple McLaren Health Care Hospitals

September 24, 2020

Gresham Smith is proud to announce that the firm has been selected by McLaren Health Care Corporation to develop a beautification and branding master plan for multiple hospital campuses throughout Michigan and Ohio. The comprehensive aesthetic evaluation and standards assessment will create a cohesive look and feel across all McLaren facilities, enhancing each campus’ quality of care and supporting McLaren’s commitment to the patient experience.

The following campuses are part of the renovation: McLaren Flint Hospital, McLaren Macomb Hospital, McLaren Oakland Hospital, McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital, McLaren Bay Region Hospital, McLaren Central Michigan Hospital, McLaren Caro Region Hospital, McLaren Thumb Region Hospital, and McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital.

“We’re looking forward to working with McLaren to develop a standardization master plan to unify their design strategy to enhance patient experience at their campuses throughout the Midwest,” said Steve Stokes, “Most of these facilities are located in small communities in Michigan and Ohio. Our master plan will identify opportunities and provide actionable items to elevate the patient experience for these residents.”

Gresham Smith will assess each campus’ existing aesthetics and will work with key stakeholders at each location to establish goals, strategies and needs for public spaces. The project team will then identify opportunities for standardization in terms of materials, colors, furniture, lighting, flooring, artwork and wayfinding to improve patient and staff experience. The objective of this project is to create an attractive and welcoming healthcare facility that represents the McLaren brand.

This project is a continuation of Gresham Smith’s relationship with McLaren Health Care. The firm provided master planning and design services for McLaren Greater Lansing, a 240-bed replacement hospital that is currently under construction.
