Gresham Smith’s Christopher Davis Recognized by AIA Tampa Bay

Gresham Smith is pleased to announce that Christopher L. Davis, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CDT, CCCA, CSI, a senior architect in the firm’s Healthcare studio was honored at this year’s American Institute of Architects (AIA) Tampa Bay Design Awards. Davis was presented the Pullara Award, which acknowledges AIA members who have shown exemplary service above self, to the chapter and the community.

“During his more than 15 years at Gresham Smith, Chris has pushed his teammates towards technical excellence and sustainable, value-added solutions for our healthcare clients,” said Jim Langlois, AIA, LEED AP, executive vice president, Gresham Smith. “His commitment to excellence and service is evident through his volunteerism and professional involvement as well. We are proud that AIA Tampa Bay has recognized Chris for his dedication to the industry.”

In addition to his design work as a Senior Architect, Davis serves as the Technical Practice Leader for Gresham Smith’s Healthcare studio, a position which helps advance technical education and excellence within each of the firm’s markets. With more than 30 years of design experience, Davis serves as a firmwide resource on sustainability, constructability and innovative technology. As a lecturer and instructor for the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), he is a leader in LEED. He also brings Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Lean principles expertise to his teams and clients including BayCare, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.

As an active member of AIA since 1992, Davis has served on numerous committees including Design Awards, Young Architects Forum (YAF), Annual Golf Tournament and ARE Exam Prep. He currently co-chairs the AIA’s Academy of Architecture for Health Committee. Davis extends his commitment to the architecture, engineering and construction industry through his involvement with the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) Tampa Bay Chapter; he currently serves at President Elect. He is also a founding member of the USGBC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the professional association for architects and those in the architecture field. AIA Tampa Bay is the regional chapter representing approximately 650 members in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus and Sumter Counties. The AIA provides programs and services including educational programs, design competitions, community service programs and serves as the united voice of the architecture profession. The Pullara Award was established in memory of Anthony L. Pullara to recognize commitment to the AIA and the profession.
