Gresham Smith’s Daniel White Named to AIA’s College of Fellows

Gresham Smith is proud to announce that Senior Vice President Daniel White, FAIA, LEED AP, CLGB, has been named to the American Institute of Architect’s (AIA) prestigious College of Fellows.

White is among 116 member-architects who are being elevated to AIA’s College of Fellows, an honor awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the architecture profession.

“This is a great honor for Dan and for the firm as a whole,” said Randy Gibson, chief strategy officer at Gresham Smith. “Over his more than 30-year career, Dan has made significant contributions to the architecture profession, specifically in bringing innovative design solutions to our healthcare clients like McLaren Health Care and Mid Illinois Medical District.”

The fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Prospective candidates must have at least 10 years of AIA membership and demonstrated influence in at least one of the following areas:

  • Promoted the aesthetic, scientific, and practical efficiency of the profession;
  • Promoted the science and art of planning and building by advancing the standards of architectural education, training or practice;
  • Coordinated the building industry and the profession of architecture through leadership in the AIA or other related professional organizations; or
  • Advanced the living standards of people through an improved environment.

Fellows are selected by a seven-member Jury of Fellows. This year’s jury included Chair Paul Mankins, FAIA, substance architecture; Mary A. Burke, FAIA, Burke Design & Architecture PLLC; Philip Castillo, FAIA, Jahn; Mary Johnston, FAIA, Johnston Architects, LLC; Nancy Rogo Trainer, FAIA, Drexel University; Steven Spurlock, FAIA, Quinn Evans Architects; and Anna Wu, FAIA, University of North Carolina.

At Gresham Smith, White has contributed to innovations in large-scale medical district development and integration for healthcare clients such as Nuvance Health and Northwestern Medicine, among others. Recent highlights of his more than 30-year career include a new healthcare campus for McLaren Greater Lansing. He has also been instrumental in helping the firm open its newest office in Lansing, Michigan.
