Gresham Smith’s Devon Seal Elected President of OSPE

Gresham Smith is pleased to announce that Senior Environmental Engineer Devon Seal, P.E., ENV SP, has been elected president of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) for a one-year term. In her role, Seal will lead OSPE to serve Ohio’s professional engineers and advance the engineering practice in the state.

Seal is a proven leader in and outside of Gresham Smith. Her expertise includes regulatory compliance audits, water quality services, environmental site assessments, spill prevention control and countermeasure plans, environmental management systems, air emissions inventories, industrial cleaning, and deicer management assistance. Recently, Seal was instrumental in the creation of Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Report 147: Climate Change Adaptation Planning: Risk Assessment for Airports, and has presented and authored articles about infrastructure engineering in the face of climate change. In 2010, she earned Gresham Smith’s Edgar Powers Jr. Memorial Award, which recognizes leadership in the application of technology. Seal was named an owner in the firm in 2017.

A committed and active member of industry organizations, Seal has been consistently recognized for her service. In 2011, OPSE named her Young Engineer of the Year. In 2017, Seal was presented the Engineers Foundation of Ohio President’s Award, OSPE’s Meritorious Service Award and the OSPE Franklin County Chapter Meritorious Service Award. She was selected as one of Engineering News-Record Midwest’s 2017 Top Young Professionals, and received the Uncommon Engineer Award from both OSPE and the Franklin County Chapter of OSPE in 2018.

Ohio Society of Professional Engineers promotes and defends the professional interests of engineering professionals as well as enhances the image and well-being of engineers through educational programs and by providing career guidance to its members. Additionally, it presents the professional engineer’s point of view to public officials and their staffs, tracks legislation impacting engineering, initiates effective legislation, provides testimony and facilitates constructive government action at all three levels of government–local, state and federal.
