Gresham Smith’s Penny Houchens Named a Woman of Influence

Gresham Smith announces that Senior Interior Designer Penny Houchens, IIDA, LEED AP, NCIDQ, Lean, is one of Nashville Business Journal’s 2019 Women of Influence. The award recognizes women in Middle Tennessee who are shaping their companies, improving our communities and paving the way for the next generation of influential female leaders.

Since joining Gresham Smith in 2004, Penny has consistently created inspired, human-centered solutions for healthcare clients. She works to first gain a deep understanding of their needs while remaining focused on the overall patient experience. Houchens leads a large team of interior designers in the firm’s healthcare studio and is a go-to mentor for staff as they work to grow in their careers.

As an industry advocate, Houchens is an active member of the International Interior Design Association and the Nashville Health Care Council. She also invests her time with the American Heart Association, serving on the Executive Leadership Committee for Go Red for Women and a committee for STEM Goes Red. STEM Goes Red focuses on powering the next great cardiovascular medical breakthroughs by empowering young women to take a seat at the table and dedicate their minds to advancing the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
