GS&P’s Blair Perry Elected to Alabama Section of ITE Board of Directors

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Blair Perry, P.E., Alabama state transportation leader, has been elected to the Alabama Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ (ALSITE) Board of Directors. Perry will serve as the Section’s secretary and treasurer, supporting the organization’s mission of improving the quality of transportation systems across the state of Alabama as well as providing professional development opportunities for transportation engineers.

“I’m honored to have been elected to serve as the secretary and treasurer of the Alabama Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers,” commented Perry. “I’ve been involved with the organization for nearly two decades and look forward to stepping into a leadership role. By working together to support the needs of the Alabama DOT and other municipalities, and to provide expertise to civic planning organizations and offer professional development opportunities for our members, I believe that ALSITE can continue advancing the transportation industry and positively impact communities across the state.”

Perry joined GS&P in 1999 and has more than 22 years of experience on a variety of planning, design and construction projects in civil and transportation engineering. As the firm’s transportation leader for the state of Alabama, he and his team serve as trusted advisors to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and local government clients in the planning, design and construction of transportation projects in Alabama. Blair is a 19-year member of the Alabama Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, as well as an at-large member of the Birmingham Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Transportation Technical Committee. He has previously served on the Steering Committee for ALDOT’s Roundabout Planning, Design, and Operations Manual and the ALDOT/FHWA Every Day Counts Innovative Intersections and Interchanges Work Group.

The organization promotes professional development for its members, develops technical resources including standards and recommended practices and develops public awareness programs.
