GS&P’s Jessica Smith to Talk Art in the Airport with Public Art Professionals

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Jessica Smith, NCIDQ, a senior interior designer in the firm’s Tampa Aviation studio, will participate in a guided tour of Tampa International Airport highlighting the new art installations in the GS&P-designed Consolidated Rental Car Center and SkyConnect Automated People Mover. The tour is being done as part of the Florida Association of Public Art Professional’s Annual Conference on May 4.

The tour is being done as part of the Florida Association of Public Art Professional’s Annual Conference on May 4.

“Art installations are a unique way to make an impression on airport visitors and create a connection to the local culture,” commented Smith. “I’m excited to discuss many considerations that led to the successful installation of four new art pieces in the rental car center and SkyConnect at Tampa International Airport with this year’s conference attendees.”

Tour of Tampa International Airport Public Art

Conference attendees are invited to tour the newest works in Tampa International Airport’s public art collection. The airport’s new GS&P-designed Consolidated Rental Car Center and SkyConnect Automated People Mover includes eight opportunities for public art commissions, building on the airport’s more than 40-year commitment to artwork that reflects the Tampa community. Tour guests will see Daniel Canogar’s digital art running through a ribbon of LED screens, Nick Cave’s mixed media wall sculpture, kinetic work by Tim Prentice and Dave Colbert, a large-scale painting by Elisabeth Condon and more.
