GS&P’s Louis Johnson Appointed to Congress for the New Urbanism Midwest Board of Directors

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Senior Landscape Architect Louis Johnson, PLA, ASLA, has been appointed to the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) Midwest Chapter’s Board of Directors. In his leadership role, Johnson will support the organization’s mission of creating vibrant, walkable cities, towns and neighborhoods.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve on the Board of Directors for the Congress for the New Urbanism’s Midwest Chapter,” commented Johnson. “By working together to reclaim our public spaces, reconnect our neighborhoods and reinvest in our communities, I believe that CNU can play a pivotal role in reimagining and repopulating our urban cores.”

As a senior landscape architect at GS&P, Johnson manages urban design projects with the unique needs of the community in mind. His experience spans nearly 10 years and touches on multiple scales of urban issues including site design, community planning, corridor planning and sustainability planning. Outside of the office Louis is active in the community, having served as president of the Kentucky chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and an adjunct instructor for the University of Kentucky’s Department of Landscape Architecture. Additionally, he has spoken about urban issues and public design processes at numerous conferences, including the 26th Annual Congress for the New Urbanism, the Kentucky and Tennessee Bike/Walk Summits and the National American Planning Association Conference.

Congress for the New Urbanism Midwest is a regional chapter of the larger parent organization and, focusing on placemaking initiatives in the Midwestern states of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Western Pennsylvania and Western West Virginia.
