March 12, 2018

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce that Mike Sewell, P.E., senior transportation engineer and active transportation service line leader, has been elected to the League of American Bicyclists’ National Board of Directors. He was inducted at the 2018 National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. on March 11. In his leadership role, Sewell will support the organization as it advocates for safer infrastructure that supports all modes of transportation.

“Good planning and engineering is critical to creating vibrant transportation networks and communities,” commented Sewell. “Bike accessibility is not only a personal passion, but also something that our team at Grehsam Smith considers when designing improvements to the transportation infrastructure across the southeast. I look forward to drawing upon my experience and knowledge to help local and national communities develop multi-modal design solutions.”

One of Gresham Smith’s most passionate bike advocates, Sewell has led the charge on bike network and multi-modal projects for dozens of clients, including the Louisville Urban Bike Network and Lexington, Ky.’s Town Branch Greenway. Additionally, he spearheaded the Louisville office’s inclusion on the list of gold-level Bicycle Friendly Businesses in the United States, making GS&P the only gold-level business in the commonwealth of Kentucky and the first engineering company in the commonwealth to earn the distinction.

Founded in 1880, the League of American Bicyclists is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cycling for fun, fitness and transportation through advocacy and education.
