Gresham Smith is excited to welcome Jason Kocmar as a senior landscape architect in the firm’s Nashville Land Planning market. He brings more than a decade of landscape design, urban planning, and project management experience on a variety of project types.

Prior to joining Gresham Smith, Jason spent his career working at various landscape architecture studios in Australia. He is well-versed in the landscape design industry, previously working on mixed-used developments, residential developments, rooftop amenities, and commercial developments. His passion for designing active urban spaces is coupled with his knowledge of creating distinct and personable human experiences. A steward of the environment, Jason is proficient in Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), vegetation management, and waterway conservation master planning.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jason to our Nashville team,” said Jessica Lucyshyn, P.E., executive vice president and market vice president of Gresham Smith’s Land Planning market. “Relocating from Australia, Jason brings a unique point of view when it comes to landscape architecture and protecting the environment. While landscape architecture is a universal practice, it’s exciting to bring in someone that has worked outside of the United States. We’re eager to get him involved in our high-profile projects, putting his expertise and ideologies to good use.”

Jason holds his landscape architecture registration from the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA). Since moving to the U.S., he has begun working towards becoming a licensed landscape architect in Tennessee. He earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Canberra.

Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two small children. He is excited to be in the U.S. and begin this new chapter with his family.
