Gresham Smith announces that Greg Williams, P.E., has joined the firm from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). As a senior roadway design engineer, he will offer engineering, team leadership and project management experience to Transportation clients and staff. He brings 25 years of industry expertise, having focused on design, planning, delivery and quality control for countless roadway projects across the State of Mississippi. During his time at MDOT, he held many leadership positions including roadway design team leader and design section engineer in the Roadway Design Division.

“Greg has long been one of the most respected leaders within MDOT, having gained the confidence and trust of consultants, colleagues and peers alike,” commented Randy Battey, P.E., Mississippi State Transportation Leader at Gresham Smith. “He has strong relationships at MDOT and throughout the state, and he’s managed in-house design teams, led construction plans and gained in-depth experience on the operations side of the transportation sector, which gives him a well-rounded perspective. Bringing Greg onboard is a major leap forward for Gresham Smith’s roadway design practice in Mississippi. He’ll significantly enhance the quality of the service we provide our clients and be a tremendous asset to the rest of our staff.”

“I’m looking forward to the chance to join the other talented employees in our Jackson office to really grow the roadway design group,” said Williams. “The work we do in the transportation industry has clear and immediate benefits within our state and communities, and I’ve had the chance to travel across Mississippi seeing what it takes to design and construct the right infrastructure in the right ways. Our clients have many opportunities to make the smartest use of available funding and build a transportation system that will take our state into the future. I’m ready to dive in and get to work with them.”

Outside of the office, Williams is a member of the Mississippi Engineering Society (MES). He completed the two-week AASHTO National Transportation Leadership Institute program in 2012. Williams is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree.
