Motunrayo Badru Joins Gresham Smith as Healthcare Project Executive in Charlotte
Gresham Smith is proud to announce that Motunrayo Badru, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP BD + C, has joined the firm’s Healthcare market as a Project Executive. Based in Gresham Smith’s Charlotte, North Carolina office, Tunrayo, as she prefers to be called, will lend her 14 years of experience to advance innovative and resourceful design solutions as a healthcare architect, while also leading business development initiatives in North Carolina and Virginia.
With an understanding that healthcare environments aid people in times of need and distress, she’s passionate about utilizing thoughtful, evidence-based and community-centered design practices to create impactful spaces that are welcoming, comfortable and restorative. Over the course of her career, Tunrayo has worked on numerous projects from planning to completion, including behavioral health and rehabilitation centers, medical education facilities, and outpatient care centers. Tunrayo is very proud of all her contributions in healthcare, most notably her work on a wellness center in Mansfield, Texas, that assists people who are recovering from addiction or ‘life burnout’.

Tunrayo is licensed in Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina. She currently serves on the American Institute of Architects National Ethics Committee, mentors through the National Organization for Minority Architects (NOMA) and volunteers with the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA). Tunrayo is also active within her local community with her engagement in the Charlotte chapter of Women in Healthcare.
Tunrayo is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Houston where she earned a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture, respectively. When she’s not working, Tunrayo enjoys being an amazing aunt to her niece and nephew and gardening, traveling, cooking and exploring the hiking scene in Charlotte with her friends.
