Gresham Smith is proud to welcome Nathan Hudgens to the firm as a senior civil engineer on the Land Planning team in the Nashville, Tennessee office. With more than 15 years of experience and a familiarity with the firm’s operations, he will use his expertise to lead design efforts, plan and manage projects, and develop client relationships.

Hudgens spent his early career at Gresham Smith, working on one of the firm’s largest-fee projects, the $1.3 billion international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He has also worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in both Nashville, Tennessee, and Jalalabad, Afghanistan, specializing in project management and contract negotiations. Hudgens also has experience in the Water + Environment market, working as a senior water resources engineer performing site designs and project management duties. Most recently he managed the engineering staff and served as assistant program manager for both the Metro Nashville Public Works Bridge Maintenance and Management program, as well as the Walk’N’Bike Sidewalk and Bikeways program at Civic Engineering & IT, Inc.

“We’re so excited to have Nathan back at Gresham Smith,” said Jessica Lucyshyn, P.E., Executive Vice President and Market Vice President of Land Planning at Gresham Smith. “Nathan brings a diverse background, as he has worked on a variety of projects and markets throughout his career. We look forward to the strengths and knowledge he’ll bring to the Land Planning team.”

Hudgens is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and also volunteers with 4-H Youth Development program, working hands-on with Robertson County youth to develop their personal and professional skills to prepare them to enter the workforce.

Outside of the office, Hudgens enjoys spending time with his wife and eight-year-old daughter. Having grown up on a farm, he also loves to spend his free time outdoors hunting and fishing.
