New Landscape Architect Erin Hathaway Expands Gresham Smith’s Land Planning Market to Lexington
Gresham Smith announces Erin Hathaway has joined the firm as a landscape architect and project manager. Hathaway will use her 11 years of industry experience to establish Gresham Smith’s Land Planning market in Lexington, building on a strong Louisville presence and more effectively serving clients throughout Kentucky. She will lead business development and design efforts for a variety of public and private projects. Hathaway brings experience with park and wayfinding master plans, streetscapes, commercial site design, historic renovations, municipal education and neighborhood-wide projects.

Hathaway was most recently a landscape architect with CARMAN in Lexington, where she managed design teams and projects, including the Fayette County Courthouse project which recently earned the Community Preservation Award at the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation’s Annual Awards. Hathaway was also an associate designer with Great Ecology in New York, NY, where she provided strategic ecological planning for public urban spaces, waterfronts and brownfields. Additionally, she served as a visiting professor in the University of Kentucky Landscape Architecture Department’s Urban Design Studio.
Hathaway is currently the president-elect for the Kentucky Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). She has won numerous awards, including the National Association of Design Professionals’ Environmental Award of Excellence. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s degree in Professional Studies in the Business of Art and Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
