Mills Joins GS&P's Industrial Team as Senior Mechanical Engineer

Former BWSC Manager Will Add Value for Clients in Automotive, Tire, Metals Industries

Gresham, Smith and Partners announces that Victor Mills, P.E., has joined GS&P as a senior mechanical engineer in the firm’s Knoxville office. Mills brings more than 20 years of experience leading mechanical and process design teams for a broad range of capital projects in the automotive, tire, aluminum/metals, aerospace, and food/beverage industries. At GS&P, Mills will focus on bringing value to GS&P’s Industrial clients through exceptional design and service.

“I’ve gained a very broad base of experience across industrial sectors, working with clients to understand their goals and challenges then guiding them down the most practical, impactful path,” said Mills. “There are a lot of mature plants in the U.S. right now that need to be upgraded or replaced, and there are many manufacturers planning new facilities. The best part of my job is working with clients to introduce the latest technology in these plants, reduce their energy consumption and streamline their mechanical systems to ultimately help them boost their bottom line.”

Mills most recently served as a senior mechanical systems engineer for Bechtel International in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was also a mechanical services manager for Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc., in Knoxville. Mills led the mechanical team in the design of a $500 million, 529,000-square-foot grassroots specialty steel mill for Carpenter Technology Corporation in Athens, Ga. He was also the MEP design coordinator for bridging documents used in the design-build bidding of a 1.4-million-square-foot expansion project for Mercedes-Benz in Tuscaloosa. Additionally, Mills led process and mechanical engineering for a 190,000-square-foot facility for Bush Beans in Dandridge, Tenn. Outside of the office, Mills has been involved with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He served for five years in the United States Navy before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.
