GS&P Selected to Provide GDOT with On-Call Drainage and Traffic Forecasting Services

Firm Will Deliver Engineering Design Solutions for a Variety of Projects Across Georgia

Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce the firm’s recent contracts with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to provide special drainage design and traffic forecasting consulting services for a variety of projects. GS&P will work with the Office of Design Policy to investigate and develop solutions for drainage improvements throughout the state. The firm will also work with the GDOT Office of Planning to collect, process and analyze traffic data and develop long-range traffic projections.

Under the drainage contract, the firm will evaluate storm water related issues throughout GDOT Districts one, two, four and five and will make recommendations for maintenance, repair or replacement of existing drainage systems. GS&P will also be responsible for performing hydrologic/hydraulic analysis for bridges and culverts, scour analysis, flood studies, stream restorations and water quality best management practices.

Under the traffic forecasting contract, GS&P will conduct design-level traffic forecasting work for transportation projects located in GDOT Districts three, six and seven. The project team will develop traffic projections for reconstruction, rehabilitation, widening, safety, bypass, new interchange, realignment, resurfacing and new road projects. GS&P will also work with the Office of Planning’s design traffic team to streamline GDOT’s traffic forecasting process to maintain and update GDOT’s Design Traffic Forecasting Manual.

GS&P has successfully delivered numerous GDOT projects and contracts over the past 23 years. In addition to work with GDOT, the firm is currently engaged in projects through on-call contracts with Cobb County, Gwinnett County, the City of Roswell and the City of Atlanta.
