Gresham, Smith and Partners announces that Jude Wessels, EDAC has joined the firm as a senior designer in the Tampa office, bringing more than 26 years of experience in healthcare planning and design. He also has more than 11 years of experience living and working in Singapore with international clients. His background ranges from strategic health campus master plans to innovative hospital and outpatient environments at every level of care.

“Jude brings extensive experience working throughout Southeast Asia. Working on large-scale healthcare projects and campuses means he’s had the opportunity to touch almost every type of healthcare space,” said Matthew G. Harrell, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, division vice president, Gresham, Smith and Partners. “Additionally, Jude’s passion, enthusiasm and drive makes him a great fit and addition to the team.”

“The magnitude of the international healthcare projects I worked on presented complex sites, a multitude of technical challenges and unique environmental responses in tight time frames. I believe this challenge has made me a more creative, resourceful and determined planner and designer,” commented Wessels. “I’m looking forward to bringing this expertise to our clients as well as continuing to grow and learn from the team here. GS&P presents incredible opportunity because we can provide clients a truly integrated approach and leverage talent from across the firm to offer them the best possible solutions.”

Wessels enjoys a challenge. When not planning and designing complex healthcare spaces, he gets his adrenaline pumping through competitive obstacle course racing. Wessels also enjoys mentoring students to help promote the architecture profession and volunteering in the community through Hope Worldwide Global Outreach. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California.

GS&P’s dedicated Healthcare staff approach each project through the lens of Value-Added Design. Value-Added Design is a dynamic, holistic framework in which teams explore and define what is important to clients with a focus on key performance indicators: patient safety; operational efficiencies; integration of technology; adaptability/resiliency; healthy, sustainable buildings; and human experience through evidence-based design. This approach gives clients the opportunity to assess and prepare for inevitable market shifts.
