Silicon Ranch Corporation Thrives in Inspired Gresham Smith-Designed Headquarters

Gresham Smith recently completed design of a new 19,000-square-foot headquarters for Silicon Ranch Corporation in downtown Nashville, Tenn. Silicon Ranch Corporation is the U.S. solar platform for Shell and one of America’s largest independent solar power producers. Former Tennessee Commissioner of Economic and Community Development Matt Kisber is the company’s Co-Founder and CEO, while Former Tennessee Commissioner of Revenue Reagan Farr is the company’s Co-Founder, President and COO. Former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen serves as chairman of the board of directors.

Located on the 19th floor of the Gresham Smith-designed 222 Second Avenue South tower, the space also includes a state-of-the-art network operations center for monitoring the performance of solar plants across the country. Gresham Smith provided interior design, branded environments, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering for the buildout.

“We are excited about our new headquarters and the opportunity it provides our company to continue expanding and evolving,” commented Kisber. “The solar industry and the city of Nashville are both booming, and this new space helps us capture that momentum. Gresham Smith was able to translate our vision for the future of Silicon Ranch into a physical environment that’s energizing for our staff and reflective of the values we embody as an organization.”

“Our team created a classic, modern aesthetic for Silicon Ranch that complements their employees’ workstyles,” said Jack Weber, IIDA, MCR, LEED AP, senior vice president at Gresham Smith. “We introduced a well-balanced mix of traditional offices and open workstations, along with glass features, white accents and solar technology-inspired iconography to keep the space feeling progressive and clean. The new network operations center, also surrounded by glass, is an exciting focal point off the reception lobby. It was an honor to work with Silicon Ranch on this project and Gresham Smith is honored to have them as neighbors at 222.”

Gresham Smith’s Corporate and Urban Design expertise has been honed with decades of project experience and continues to be a cornerstone service. The firm’s recent office projects include LifeWay Christian Resources’ new 277,000-square-foot headquarters in downtown Nashville, a 204,000-square-foot corporate headquarters and 15,000-square-foot connector currently under construction in Franklin, Tenn., for Ramsey Solutions, and the award-winning 16-story 1100 Charlotte Avenue office tower in downtown Nashville.
