Steven Ball Named Vice President of Gresham Smith’s Building Engineering Practice

Gresham Smith is proud to announce that Steven Ball, P.E., S.E., LEED AP, has joined the firm as a vice president in the firm’s Building Engineering market. Using his more than 35 years of diverse engineering, management and business development experience and proven track record of client success, Ball will support the firm’s growing Building Engineering team.

“From leading in-house design teams and directing office-wide production to managing large, complex projects and developing business strategies, Steve has a wealth of well-rounded, in-depth experience,” said Bryan Tharpe, P.E., Building Engineering market vice president. “I am  excited to welcome Steve to the team and look forward to working together to grow our mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural engineering services.”

Ball joins Gresham Smith from John A. Martin & Associates, Inc., where he created the firm’s Aviation market and went on to support the largest capital improvement projects in the history of the City of Los Angeles. He previously worked at A. Epstein and Sons International where he managed large projects across the United States and Europe. In addition to aviation work, Ball’s extensive portfolio includes complex projects in nearly every industry and touts clients such as Apple, various government authorities and many internationally recognized architects.

Outside of the office, Ball is active in a variety of industry organizations, including the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), which awarded him an AISC Special Achievement Award for his contributions to the advancement of the structural steel design and construction industry. Ball is a graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a Master of Science in Structural Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
