Transportation Engineers Receive Road Safety Professional Certification

September 8, 2020

Transportation Engineers Joel Morrill, P.E., and Justin Hina, P.E., are the latest members of the Gresham Smith Transportation team to receive their road safety professional certifications.

As a part of the nationwide push to improve public safety on roadways, the Transportation Professional Certification Board created a new Road Safety Professional Certification (RSP) in 2018. To date, only about 600 engineers have completed the certification nationally. The goals of the RSP certification are to recognize road safety as a profession, to establish a recognized level of practice and knowledge and to incentivize safety education. A total of six engineers at Gresham Smith are now RSP certified.

“Our transportation team in Kentucky prides ourselves on our commitment to safety,” said Jim Brannon, Kentucky state transportation leader at Gresham Smith. “We’re proud to serve the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet on a number of roadway safety projects, including the statewide highway safety improvement program.”

Gresham Smith’s transportation professionals deliver comprehensive management, planning, design, environmental, and construction phase services for highway, transit, aviation and rail facilities throughout the Southeast. The staff of engineers, planners and scientists capitalize on the firm’s diverse blend of markets and disciplines to offer a truly integrated and sustainable approach that considers all perspectives and offers practical, forward-thinking solutions.
