Gresham Smith provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for the installation of a new melting/holding furnace. This new furnace will provide additional melting capacity to meet customer requirements. We engaged with the client during the concept planning stage of the project and continued through construction. We provided assistance with specifications for the furnace, bid evaluation and assistance with furnace procurement. We coordinated frequently with the client and the furnace supplier to develop installation drawings for furnace foundations and related building, electrical, and piping modifications.
As design was ongoing, we pre-qualified multiple contractors to have the capability for competitive bids. After design was complete, we sent out the bid packages, received and evaluated bids, and provided a recommendation to the Client for award.
Following contractor award, Gresham Smith provided construction management assistance to monitor construction progress, process requests for information and review shop drawing submittals in an expedited manner to maintain the construction schedule.
