Gresham Smith designed a new 300,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art engine assembly plant for a leading producer of trucks, service vehicles, engines and parts. The plant, located near the company’s current manufacturing facility on a 30-acre site, delivers a consolidated manufacturing process and reduce costs in a modern facility. Gresham Smith provided architectural, landscape architecture, interior design and engineering (civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical) services for the engine assembly plant.
Our architectural and engineering services included the design of a conventional frame/steel structure with tilt-up concrete exterior wall panels. The new facility includes: office space; toilet/locker rooms that are designed to also serve as tornado shelters; security access control systems for the entire site and building; an HVAC system for the entire assembly plant; compressed air system and piping; and electrical power and lighting for the office and assembly plant.
The new plant produces a higher-quality product at a lower cost, which has increased customer satisfaction significantly. Due to the demand, the company has utilized Gresham Smith to expand this plant several times.
