In need of high-level environmental consulting services and annual maintenance for the County’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (MS4) program, Nueces County Department of Public Works enlisted the services of Gresham Smith. The MS4 program was in the third year of implementation, and we were tasked with ensuring several aspects of the program were executed.

Our team performed facility and area inspections, developed public education and outreach documentation, and prepared Year 2 and Year 3 MS4 Annual Reports for submittal to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The inspections and preparation of the annual report allowed us to identify opportunities for Nueces County to enhance the MS4 program and its relationship with the TCEQ.

In addition to the MS4 work, we were concurrently hired to assist with the County’s four Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System Multi-Sector General permits. Our staff has also provided environmental regulatory compliance audits and evaluations of SPCC plan compliance at several County facilities.

The result is a thorough understanding of the County’s environmental concerns and needs, knowledge that will allow us to quickly and effectively evaluate any environmental concerns that arise.
