Tennessee State Route 840

As part of the Tennessee’s Better Roads Program, SR 840  was developed to encourage economic growth by improving community connectivity in Middle Tennessee. The new roadway encircles Nashville and the Metro Davidson County area, improving access to interstate connections for motorists and commercial transportation without having to travel through downtown. GS&P was contracted to perform construction, engineering and inspection services on three sections of the project, including 44 bridges and more than 11 million cubic yards of roadway excavation.

In addition to typical inspection activities, the team encountered numerous environmental challenges such as the  planned crossing of several environmentally sensitive areas and the constraints created by a policy to prevent erosion from entering streams during the winter and early spring. Our CEI staff members were extremely effective in managing the project's requirements, keeping this complex and highly visible project on-schedule.
