Gresham Smith Completes Commissioning at Lackland Air Force Base
Gresham Smith recently provided commissioning services for the U.S. Military’s only training center for military working dogs at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The firm’s commissioning agents investigated the kennel building’s envelope and mechanical systems before testing and confirming if the equipment was installed and operating correctly. Mechanical systems modifications identified by the team will enhance the training and recovery environment for the military’s four-legged service members and improve the facility’s operational efficiency.

The Gresham Smith project team reviewed design and construction documents before inspecting the kennel building’s envelope. Unwanted condensation had been forming at the facility, and after determining that the building’s envelope wasn’t the source, the team inspected and tested the mechanical systems. Gresham Smith’s commissioning agents discovered that the building was under negative pressure, which was ultimately causing the moisture problem, and recommended improvements to fix the kennel building’s condensation issue.
