Gresham Smith is proud to announce the firm’s recent contract with the City of Clarksville for a new wastewater equalization facility in its New Providence community. The new infrastructure will mitigate peak flows in the sewer collection system and reduce the frequency of sanitary sewer overflows during periods of wet weather, leading to improved water quality for Clarksville residents.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the City of Clarksville and working to address sanitary sewer issues during wet weather,” commented Craig Parker, P.E., senior vice president at Gresham Smith. “Our team will rely on our deep knowledge and years of experience with wet weather improvements to provide a solution that is cost-effective, operator-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing, ultimately resulting in a cleaner, healthier environment for the New Providence community.”

The Gresham Smith project team will first conduct hydraulic modeling and other assessments to verify the site’s existing conditions. After preparing a preliminary report, the team will consider a variety of options for solving peak flow issues before selecting a solution that is both cost-effective and limits impact to the surrounding environment. The team will then be responsible for designing the peak flow diversion system, equalization pump station, storage tank and related improvements.
