GS&P-Designed Cypress Creek Medical Pavilion Offers Holistic Health Environment
Gresham, Smith and Partners is proud to announce the completion of Cypress Creek Medical Pavilion, an 81,000-square-foot surgery and wellness center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The facility integrates an ambulatory surgery center with preventative care, providing a variety of services in one convenient location for the Ft. Lauderdale community.
“As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, health providers have an opportunity to develop facilities that not only treat symptoms, but also help prevent them through a wellness-minded approach to healthcare,” commented Luis J. Cano, AIA, senior vice president at Gresham, Smith and Partners. “Cypress Creek Medical Pavilion features an operationally efficient surgery center, as well as flexible tenant spaces for doctors’ offices and wellness-focused services, creating a convenient, comprehensive health center. There are no more excuses for not going to see the doctor!”
The GS&P project team designed the building to be constructed using the tilt-up process, a method that provides the strength and durability of reinforced concrete and can be built quickly and economically. The building’s low profile matches the surrounding area, while contemporary exterior and modern canopies over the entrances make a statement. Inside, the sleek, modern lobby features a two-story atrium that floods the space with natural light.
The facility is anchored by a 16,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center, which features a registration area, a pre-testing area, 18 pre-op and post-op bays and five operating rooms, as well as sterile processing and clean storage areas. Designed in a loop, the center’s operationally efficient layout keeps pre-surgery and post-surgery patients from crossing paths and gives caregivers maximum visibility from the centralized nurse station. The building’s second level will feature traditional medical services, as well as fitness and rehabilitation centers.
The firm’s dedicated Healthcare staff approach each project through the lens of Value-Added Design. Value-Added Design is a dynamic, holistic framework in which teams explore and define what is important to clients with a focus on key performance indicators: patient safety; operational efficiencies; integration of technology; adaptability/resiliency; healthy, sustainable buildings; and human experience through evidence-based design. This approach gives clients the opportunity to assess and prepare for inevitable market shifts.
