Thomas Brown Joins Gresham Smith as Senior Landscape Architect
Gresham Smith is proud to welcome Thomas Brown, PLA, CLARB, ASLA, as a senior landscape architect in the firm’s landscape architecture and civil engineering practice. He is based in the firm’s Midtown Atlanta, Georgia office.
Thomas will leverage his 14 years of experience to support the growth of the firm’s landscape architecture portfolio in Atlanta. His passion for high-quality and innovative design will help enhance the firm’s client service throughout the state and beyond. His background spans landscape architecture and project management, supporting projects from conception to completion, both in North America and on an international scale. Thomas has also worked with multidisciplinary teams, partnering closely with civil engineers and planning teams to develop comprehensive site designs and navigate through permitting processes.

Prior to joining Gresham Smith, Thomas held landscape architect positions at WMWA Landscape Architects, Arcadis and Perkins + Will. His expertise played a vital role in designing an array of projects, ranging from linear parks and urban plazas to large-scale developments and campus master plans. His project experience includes the Atlanta Beltline Corridor Design and two American Society of Landscape Architecture (ASLA) national award-winning projects—Waterfront Botanical Garden in Louisville, Kentucky and Market + Georgia Public Space in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Thomas was also recently selected to exhibit one of his conceptual project designs at the Radicepura Garden Festival in Sicily, Italy.
Thomas plays an instrumental role as a board member for the Georgia Tree Council, advocating for community forestry and state-wide planting initiatives. He also holds an active membership with ASLA National. Thomas received his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia. Outside of the office, he cherishes family time and dedicates his efforts to volunteer work, including coaching his children’s baseball teams and contributing to his church’s activities.
