Baptist Health South Florida Doral Hospital

Seeking to expand their patient services and presence in the growing suburbs of Miami, Baptist Health South Florida tasked Gresham Smith with providing architecture and interior design for a full-service hospital and emergency department in Doral, Florida. Building on the long-standing, successful partnership between the firm and Baptist Health, our team designed a 43,000-square-foot facility that gives patients easy access first-class healthcare.

The two-story building includes an emergency department on the first floor, complete with an ambulance drop-off and imaging center equipped with technology for x-rays, CT scans and MRIs. The second floor resembles a more traditional hospital setting with 15 patient rooms, two operating rooms, exam rooms, physician offices, a pharmacy and more.

Clear, Easy Access

The hospital has distinctly separate entrances for the first-floor emergency department and second-floor clinic, meaning patients and visitors won’t have to wander throughout the facility to find the elevator. A large parking lot, which includes covered parking spaces, also means there is one less thing to worry about.

Placing Care at the Center of It All

Nurse stations are located in the center of each floor for increased visibility and efficient operations. In the emergency department, patients are organized by acuity level, with low acuity patients in the front and high acuity patients in the back, which allows functions to flex based on demand.

Baptist Health is known for providing top-of-the-line care to the south Florida community and is a trusted name throughout Broward and Miami-Dade County. Our team made certain that both the interior and exterior matched the branding of other Baptist Health locations so patients would feel confident in the level of care they will receive.

Operating With Technology

With an eye on the future, both operating rooms are equipped with Da Vinci robotic technology to assist with minimally invasive surgeries. The emergency department includes a full imaging center, capable of performing x-rays, CT scans and MRIs on-site.
