Gresham Smith-Led Research Study Published in Health Environments Research & Design Journal

November 19, 2021

Gresham Smith Healthcare Director of Research & Innovation Lesa Lorusso, Ph.D, MBA, MSArch, RID, Allied AIA, alongside staff from the University of Florida and The Center of Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research,  conducted a clinical trial to examine how a multi-sensory environment, using aromatherapy, color-changing lights, and music can help calm Veterans with dementia during assisted bathing.  As the number of Veterans with dementia continues to increase, alternatives to using dangerous sedatives during the assisted bathing process are needed more than ever before. The study’s findings were recently published in The Center for Health Design’s Health Environments Research & Design (HERD) Journal and you can check the paper out here.
