Gresham, Smith and Partners announces that it will complete a study for the Town of Collierville, Tennessee, to assess options and make recommendations for the Shelton Road Wastewater Treatment Plant’s (WWTP) solids processing and handling systems. The firm will employ a systematic approach to analyze various technologies to expand capacity, optimize efficiency, and provide improved reliability and redundancy.
The Shelton Road WWTP is a 3.5 million gallon per day (mgd) treatment facility, which presently relies on a gravity thickener and belt filter press for solids thickening and dewatering. The dewatered solids are disposed of in area landfills. The existing gravity filter used for thickening has insufficient capacity, and the belt filter press for dewatering is nearing the end of its useful life. To provide critical redundancy and continue processing solids, the facility needs a more reliable dewatering system. GS&P will evaluate technologies for thickening and dewatering as well as analyze the impact of potential future regulations on the plant’s solids disposal process.
