Gresham Smith is pleased to announce that Mary Connelly has joined the firm’s Transportation market in Nashville as a senior transportation planner.

Most recently, Connelly served as Tennessee planning lead at another consulting firm, where she managed a team of local planners, led the planning practice’s business development activities, and led statewide, regional, and local corridor studies, community mobility plans and other planning efforts. Prior to that role, she served in the public sector overseeing the Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) program for the Greater Nashville Regional Council. In that role, she managed the organization’s freight, transit and safety programs, including the MPO’s third phase of their Regional Freight and Goods Movement Study.

“We’re excited to welcome Mary to our growing planning team here in Tennessee,” said Andy Lucyshyn, P.E., PTOE, Middle Tennessee area transportation leader at Gresham Smith. “She’s already hit the ground running contributing to major planning efforts across the state, and she’s going to serve as a great resource and supervisor for our team in Nashville.”

At Gresham Smith, she will work on planning initiatives across the state in East, Middle and West Tennessee, including supporting Tennessee Planning Department Leader Drew Gaskins on the major multimarket planning effort with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development surrounding Ford’s BlueOval City project.

Connelly received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Masters of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers. Outside of the office, she serves on the Middle Tennessee Section Board of the American Planning Association. She lives in East Nashville.
