The newly renovated 15,000-square-foot AdventHealth Apopka pediatric office provides a playful, reassuring atmosphere for kids visiting the doctor. The Gresham Smith-designed facility, which is located in the Orlando, Florida area, take cues from Disney’s Jungle Book and features a forest theme, helping pediatric patients feel at ease and ready for a wild time.

Welcome to the Woodland

Welcome to the Woodland

Large suspended leaves overhead guide children into the “forest” and a tree-like reception desk welcomes patients and parents at check-in. Green paths with bear paw prints guide little explorers through the space, with a leafy wall, log stools and a modified treehouse along the way.
Safety First

Safety First

A divider wall in the waiting area separates well patients from sick patients while maintaining visibility for staff. Child-height counters make the space accessible, while custom locking millwork keeps medical supplies out of curious hands.
Happy Campers

Happy Campers

Throughout the space, playful elements such as colored block walls and ceiling art in procedure rooms help distract patients from the not-so-fun moments of a doctor’s visit. Additionally, a television in the waiting area provides another positive distraction.
